Former customer Iain Johnston joins growing UK software company
Guildford, Surrey, 12th January 2015. Semafone, the provider of secure payment technology for call centres, has appointed Iain Johnston as Chief Operating Officer. Iain will be responsible for all aspects of product development and delivery at Semafone, including research, design and development, production, implementation and customer support.
Iain was formerly head of the PCI programme at Sky, where he was responsible for selecting and implementing DTMF capture technology from Semafone across 14,000 call centre agents to reduce compliance costs and improve security for payments taken over the phone. He joins Semafone from Strategic Transformation, where he has been a Director for ten years.
“Security for personal data, particularly credit and debit cards, is one of the biggest issues facing the contact centre market at present,” said Iain Johnston. “Gartner has described 2014 as ‘the year of record data breaches,’ and with over 100 million card records breached this year alone, Semafone’s software is more crucial than ever. Following the company’s recent funding round, this is an exciting time to be joining Semafone and I look forward to playing a lead role in its continued success.”
“We are extremely fortunate that Iain will be joining us,” commented Tim Critchley, CEO of Semafone. “His direct experience as a customer of Semafone provides him with a unique point of view. Iain’s insight will be invaluable for us in the development of new products as well as in the deployment of projects. The fact that he has chosen to join Semafone is also a very gratifying endorsement of our technology.”
