Accolade proves flexible working model benefits growing businesses
Guildford, Surrey, 5 December 2014 – Katherine Grover, chief financial officer of Semafone®, has been named in the Timewise 2014 Power Part Time list; a roll call of 50 powerful UK executives who all work part time or flexibly.
Semafone provides payment technology to call centres, enabling them to take credit and debit card payments securely over the phone; protecting their customers from card theft, fraud, and data breach. The five-year-old company has grown rapidly and has a client base which spans four continents and includes TalkTalk, Aviva Canada, Yorkshire Water and Sky. Katherine has been responsible for Semafone’s financial affairs for two years and recently secured a £5M investment in a second round of funding for the company from the Business Growth Fund and other existing investors.
Katherine commented: “I’m honoured to have been included in the Timewise 2014 Power Part Time List. It’s very important to demonstrate that people working part time do not need to be confined to low-level positions and the list is a great way of highlighting this. Semafone has always embraced flexible working and continues to benefit from a pool of talented and experienced individuals who want to work part time. Semafone currently employs seven part time senior staff across finance, legal, marketing, operations and HR. These individuals have years of knowledge and experience and have used their skills and connections to help the business grow.”
Timewise, which is responsible for the 2014 Power Part Time List, is a social business building a visible market for good quality flexible jobs in the UK, following a nationwide search. The initiative has the backing of EY, Regus and 7 executive search firms.
Timewise co-founder and judge Karen Mattison MBE, who led the initiative, commented: “Katherine and the other 49 individuals represent how work in the UK is changing. In sharing their stories they help to change the conversation, from what is ‘not possible’ when you work flexibly – to what is. Those on the Power Part Time List are paving the way for future generations. We hope that they inspire others to open up about their patterns of work.”
